FLIPPED
Classroom
The flipped classroom describes a reversal of
traditional teaching where students gain first exposure to content, usually via
reading, videos, handouts, working models and then class time is used to solve
the problems, quizzing alongside reflection through strategies such as
problem-solving, discussion or debates.
It can also be described as flipping the role where
teacher acts as a facilitator and students act as constructors.
The flipped classroom inverts traditional
teaching methods , delivering instruction through online/ offline content
outside of class and moving “homework” into the classroom .
The
flipped class includes:-
1. Day 1- Video screening of Topic: In this section teachers will only showcase the video to
students. Please keep in mind that at this point of time teachers will not
explain anything about the topic. Students will carefully observe the video and
will prepare notes or doubts if any.
2. Peer Learning: Teacher will divide the students into
groups of 4-5 students each. Students will be discussing about the topic
explained in the video. They will discuss each subtopic deeply to clear their
doubts and clear the concepts. Kindly note that teacher will not explain
anything about the topic at this point of time.
3. Day 2-Classroom Transaction by Teacher: After peer learning, teacher will
start with class room transaction on the topic. But keep in mind that teacher
will not start teaching from the beginning of topic.
·
Facilitation- He will ask questions on the video
and will facilitate students to acquire deeper understanding of the topic
through questioning. Teacher will lead the students to think critically on the
subtopics of the topic. If students are unable to give answer to any of the
questions then it will be answered by teacher. Teacher should try to make this
session as engaging as possible.
·
Students Queries: After the discussion teacher will
ask the students if they have any queries. If there is any query by students,
it will be answered by teachers.
4. Reflection questions: At the end of the session teacher will evaluate the learning
of the students from the session. In all 10 questions will be asked from the
students. Out of these 10 questions 6 will be HOT questions and 4 will be LOT
questions. Teachers will choose students from each corner of the class to
answer the questions.
